As the Associate Director of New Horizons North, Linda Jorgenson is the Director of the assertive community treatment teams for persons with severe and persistent mental illness in Ashland and Bayfield counties and also oversees supported living services for adults with developmental disabilities. She has a long disability advocacy background in both mental health and developmental disabilities and has served on a number of state committees and boards.  She is currently on the Board of the ARC of the Northwoods.  She is also a member of Wisconsin’s “Recovery Implementation Task Force”, a product of WI’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Mental Health Reform.

Linda has been a long time activist on local policy issues.  She has organized public education and advocacy on health care reform, economic and environmental sustainability, and foreign affairs issues as a member of the Ashland/Bayfield Counties League of Women Voters.  She also serves on the Board of Directors of the LWV-WI. She is also a member of Washburn’s Messiah Lutheran Church and serves as the secretary of the Church Council. 

Linda has roots in the Upper Midwest but grew up in diverse places from Anchorage, Alaska to Cairo, Egypt and Bogota, Colombia.  She moved to Madison in 1973 and to the Chequamegon Bay area in 1983.  She earned a BA in History from Vassar College in 1967 and a MA in Urban and Regional Planning from UC-Berkeley in 1971.
