Leadership Wisconsin Signature Program

The Leadership Wisconsin Signature, Two-Year Program experience consists of eleven seminars conducted over a two-year period. Eight 3-day In-State Seminars, dealing with cutting edge issues, are held in various locations in Wisconsin; a one-week National Seminar conducted in DC; a one-week Regional Seminar somewhere in the U.S. and a two-week International Seminar held in another country. The program experience is hands-on and demanding. Leadership Wisconsin helps Fellows meet the challenge of leadership by:

  • Broadening their understanding and perspectives on political, economic, social and cultural issues.
  • Meeting and networking with key state, national and international leaders representing a wide variety of fields.
  • Discovering their leadership strengths, skills, abilities, and personal values while defining their professional aspirations.
  • Gaining first-hand experience of the world, its peoples and their relationships to our communities, through state, regional, national and international travel seminars.

Leadership Wisconsin is designed for Wisconsin residents from widely diverse backgrounds and experiences – business, education, social service, religion, nonprofits and government, rural, urban and suburban. Yet, all of these fellows share a strong desire to actively participate in meeting the challenges facing their communities.

The Leadership Wisconsin program experience is not a starting point, rather an opportunity for individuals who have already exhibited leadership capacity and are ready for the next level of their leadership development.

All applicants must be Wisconsin residents and old enough to have demonstrated their leadership abilities but young enough to still be able to make significant future leadership contributions upon completion of the 2 year experience.Upon completion of the program, fellows are awarded 48 Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) through the Community, Natural Resource, and Economic Development Program Area, University of Wisconsin-Extension.

Wisconsin will gain committed, knowledgeable and action-oriented people to serve as catalysts in promoting positive changes—people willing to roll up their sleeves and work to make Wisconsin a better place.
