Participants pay a tuition fee that is reduced by donations from alumni, businesses and community partners; contributions from the University of Wisconsin-Extension; and earnings from the Leadership Wisconsin Endowment Fund. Fellows are only responsible for paying $7500 (this is less 1/3 of the total per fellow cost of $25,000). This $7500 can be covered directly by the Fellow; however, we encourage and work with fellows to find individuals, organizations, and businesses to sponsor all or part of their tuition.
Tuition Payment Schedule
Once a fellow has been notified of his/her selection for the upcoming group experience they will be asked to acknowledge their selection and remit a non-refundable $500 Acceptance Fee. Beginning in October 2016, the remainder of tuition payments will be spread out over the course of the program. Please refer to the Tuition and Financial Agreement document for payment details and a description of financial obligations.
What if I still feel I can’t afford to participate in Leadership Wisconsin?
We choose fellows based on standard selection criteria regardless of financial ability. Therefore, Leadership Wisconsin maintains a Financial Aid fund. A fellow may apply for need based financial aid during the second year of the program, after an assessment of their progress in seeking sponsorships.
In all, the experience requires approximately 57 days away from home/work. Each seminar requires pre-work in order to maximize in-seminar learning. In addition, Fellows are asked to commit to making progress on their personal leadership goals, engaging in mentoring/coaching relationships, and contributing to the design and implementation of a community project.
