ALUMNI: CONNECTED. INFORMED. COMMITTED

By Martha Klatt, Alumni Board Presiden

Exciting enhancements are now underway for alumni that we believe will better serve you.  The Alumni Association is shifting from a separate group to mainstreaming more directly into the program.  By mainstreaming we will be unveiling new opportunities for Leadership Wisconsin to serve you – to support you in your leadership.  Hosting events like the Annual Alumni Conference was just the beginning!

Approved by the Leadership Wisconsin and the WRLP/Leadership Wisconsin Alumni Association Boards this move reflects a renewed and more in-depth commitment to all our alumni throughout the state.  Priorities include professional development opportunities and stronger alumni networking.  Bill Rizzo, board president said, “Regardless of how long ago you graduated from the program, the philosophy has always been that that was not the end the program’s commitment to you. This move enables the program to live up to fulfilling its lifelong commitment to you, our alumni.  Opportunities will be consistently offered so that alumni/graduates can stay connected, informed and committed to their leadership development over the course of their lifetime leadership journey.

I believe this move signals the beginning of a new era for our alumni.  To share more about this move and to hear more from you about  your wants and needs as alumni we invite you to join us for a meeting for all alumni, at 10 am, at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Stevens Point prior to the Legacy of Leadership Celebration.  If you’re not able to attend this meeting, we still want to hear from you, just email me at martha@carlsonadvisorsllc.com or lizemily@charter.net

The new continuing education arm of Leadership Wisconsin will begin their work this year through the Leadership Wisconsin ALUMNI/GRADUATE RELATIONS COUNCIL an arm of the board of directors. The Council will be charged with monitoring continuing education opportunities, leadership achievements and marketing, as well as motivating all alumni to support the Leadership Wisconsin.

Working in conjunction with the Leadership Wisconsin staff and Board of Directors, the Alumni or Graduate Relations Committee/Council will encourage the continued development of Leadership Wisconsin alumni or graduates through:

1)      Educational events that promote and encourage alumni to continue and expand as community leaders– including the Annual Alumni Conference, and International Study Tours;
2)      Networking – including access to an alumni directory, connections with the current Groups of Fellows and;
3)      Alumni appreciation events including the Legacy of Leadership celebration;
4)      Support of Leadership Wisconsin including recruitment, marketing, and financial support to help ensure the future of Leadership Wisconsin’s mission of Developing Leaders to Strengthen Communities.
